I used a soft scrub brush to wash off any wax. Rinse under HOT water and dry completely. Cook over a medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil and put candy thermometer in the syrup. Continue to boil until it reaches the firm ball stage, 250 degrees. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
