Setting a great Thanksgiving table really sets the mood for TURKEY DAY!

I have an easy and creative way to make your own placemats and napkins for the big day!

They're burlap... so that translates to chic, chic, chic...

I am thrilled to be part of the NO SEW THANKSGIVING SHOWCASE...

Make sure to see the end of this post for the links to all the other great NO SEW projects...AND a chance to win a $100.00 gift certificate to OnlineFabricStore.

Now let's make those NO SEW THANKSGIVING PLACEMATS...

I bet you have probably made a version of these placemats using construction paper and glue in elementary school. See, you are already an expert at this technique!

These placemats are all grown up and will make a textural and upscale start to your Thanksgiving table!

Even if you are not "crafty"... you can do this DIY!

I made 8 placemats and 8 embellished napkin rings.

Keeping them very simple, will let me use them anytime and for almost any occasion!

But, they are perfect for Thanksgiving!

Here's how I made them...

STONEGABLE THANKSGIVING BURLAP WEBBING PLACEMATS AND NAPKINS DIY

1 roll of BURLAP JUTE ( click HERE to see where I got my burlap jute webbing)
assorted buttons
hot glue gun
ruler
scissors

PLACEMAT

*HORIZONTAL= WEFT
*VERTICAL=WARP

1. Try to keep your roll of jute burlap webbing rolled... It's easier to work with.

2 Cut  6 lengths of 20 inch jute burlap and lay close together horizontally (weft).

3. Cut 8-9 lengths of burlap for the vertical webbing (warp)... and add 1 inch for folding over and gluing.

Starting at the lower left corner, glue the warp webbing on to the back of the first weft webbing 1/2 inch from the end.  Weave the warp webbing over and under the weft, gluing as you go,. The last weave will be an "over",  Fold the end over and glue to the back of the placemat. See image.

4. Continue to weave and glue. The second warp strip will begin "over" so leave a little extra webbing to fold the end of the warp over and glue it to the back of the placemat.

Continue weaving until you are 1/2 inch or more from the end.

Cut all the "under" warp webbing and make sure to glue it down close to the edge.

5. Finished, chic placemat

6. Instead of a smooth edge you can opt for a fringed edge!

Make sure you have 2/3 inch overhang on all weft strips. Pull the threads out of the weft burlap ends, making a fringe. Cut to about 1/2 inch.

NAPKIN RING

1. Cut a 2 1/2 inch piece of burlap webbing. Glue the ring, with hot glue, so the diameter is 2 inches.

2. Fringe the end and cut to the length you like. Embellish with buttons by gluing them to the burlap.

*Overlap the buttons for a designer look.

* To get rid of hot glue spider webs, use a blow dryer on high and go over the buttons. The hot glue spiders will disappear.

3. Roll a  napkin and slide inside the napkin ring.

Instead of placemats, use same techniques and make a table runner! BEAUTIFUL!

SG TIP: I used Scotchguard to protect my placemats from spills!

Why not make custom napkins to go along with your Thanksgiving placemats and napkins.
